OCA's design for Newark Switching Station - Architectural Design Competition was selected by PSE&G. The facades of the Switching Station will face University Ave and Washington Street. The design incorporates community oriented spaces including a community garden space which can be doubled as a classroom space. This building will secure PSE&G's infrastructure and also blend with the neighborhood. The upper portion of the building is made from translucent glass and will feature LED lights. We propose creative lighting strategies be utilized to coordinate with holidays or celebration like a Devil's Championship victory or firework display for Independence Day.
Our team is proud to be a part of this opportunity to add to create a dynamic urban structure for PSE&G and the community. We thank PSE&G for selecting our design and look forward to its construction.
